Western Rye World Hub
A pretty canyon with a plague in the walls.
Western Rye is set in the golden-era Wild West among the red rock of Monument Valley. A fragile settlement tries to hold together at the edge of everything. You move between bustling towns, deep caves, abandoned settlements, and weather that wants a vote. This hub is the world index for Early Access.
Child pages:
- Map and locations — towns, ruins, caves, and how not to confuse them.
- Story and NPCs — Marshal, Sheriff, Priest, missing children, and the long game.
The Next Fest trailer in the middle of this page is the studio’s own postcard. Use it for tone. Use the child pages for not dying in the postcard.
How to read the frontier
Habitable towns have NPCs, trade, and story. Deserted apocalypse cities have Husks and scrap. Caves have ore and echoes. Your ranch is the only place that owes you a door. Homestead building is how you make that true. How to beat Husks is how you leave the wrong city.
Wildlife still runs the fields. That is why hunting exists. Weather still erases trails. That is why weather exists. The world is not a backdrop. It is the other player.
How the world serves the story
A Marshal carries something unspoken. A Sheriff believed the truth early. Children are disappearing. A Priest hunts a cult. A broken-faced man plays a long game. You are in the middle. Do not try to speedrun that mosaic before you can drink. Getting started still comes first.
Factions live in this world too. Factions names the human problems so you do not blame every burned fence on the sky.
How Early Access will grow the map
The studio says more locations, dungeons, and caves are coming, along with more barns and buildings. Explore what shipped. When a new valley pocket opens, the Updates Hub will mention it. Until then, learn two towns, one cave, and the way home.
If you came from the homepage looking for a pretty ride, take the trailer, then open map. Pretty is free. Getting back is the skill.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Where does Western Rye take place?
A Monument Valley-inspired frontier recovering from Rye Fever, with living towns and deserted ruins.
Is the map finished?
No. Early Access already has an expansive desert and towns, with more locations and caves planned.
Should I live in a deserted city?
No. Build a homestead you can close. Ruins are workplaces, not bedrooms.
